Who Will Be at My Social Security Disability Hearing?

Social Security disability hearings are private, and no one other than the judge, witnesses called by the judge, and SSA employees is allowed to be present in the hearing room without your explicit permission. You and your Montana disability lawyer may also invite additional witnesses, friends, family or other guests to attend the hearing as well, if you wish.

Hearing participants sit at a conference table, not a witness stand, during testimony and other stages of the hearing. You and your Montana disability lawyer will sit together with any witnesses, such as a doctor or a vocational expert, whom you may have invited to testify on your behalf. (A court recorder making a CD-ROM of the hearing will also be seated nearby with a computer.)

Unlike proceedings that take place in regular court, Social Security disability hearings are informal and unintimidating, so you and your Montana disability lawyer can present your case fully, honestly, and effectively, without undue pressure or artificial tension.

Of course, you and all witnesses will still be under oath. And your testimony still has to be yours alone, presented under the counsel of a Montana disability lawyer, without assistance or contributions from any of the other witnesses or guests you have invited.

If you have a Social Security disability claim, a Montana disability lawyer from Bulman Law Associates can help you make the best and most complete case possible before, during and after the judicial hearing. For more information, please fill out the claim evaluation form on this website.
